Books by Margaret Faulkner
A Village Childhood
Telling Tales

Margaret Faulkner now lives in Godmanchester, but grew up in Great Stukeley. She has written two books about what it was like to grow up there.
The parish of Great Stukeley, Cambridgeshire, UK, lies in the centre of the county, adjoining Huntingdon on the south. The land is low-lying and fertile. Towards the south-west where Alconbury brook forms part of the boundary, the pasture land is liable to flood, the highset land being to the north-east.
In 1935, the civil parish was abolished; part of the parish went to Huntingdon, and a new parish called "The Stukeleys" was created with Little Stukeley.
This picture of Les and Margaret has been taken from her second book, "Telling Tales".

Telling Tales
In 1946 the Cricket team, a combination of men from Great and Little Stukeley, had a very successful year, winning the much coveted Cranfield Cup. The photograph of this gallant team hung for many years in the WI hall. When the hall was demolished it was moved to the village shop until it closed in the 1970's. A copy of this picture is in this book.
